(MoFA Ethiopia)- In a meeting with President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed of Somalia on Monday (October 24) Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has spoken about the efforts by the Somali government regarding the fight against al-Shabab terrorists.
Premier Desalegn announced that his government will support the federal government in the fight against al-Shabab, describing the group as inhuman. Hailemariam noted al-Shabab was only capable of massacring civilians since they cannot engage the Somali government in conventional warfare. Adding that the fight against al-Shabab requires unity so as to eliminate them from the entire country where they have their main stronghold, Premier said, "We will assist the Somali government in the fight against al-Shabab because they are a menace to the entire region."

Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed on his part said "we need to support each other and strengthen our solidarity in order to effectively fight al-Shabaab". He urged countries in the region to join hands against al-Shabaab as it is a common threat: "So this is not only a threat to Somalia, but also a threat to our neighbors".
